Mom is back from her first treatment at Duke, and everything went very well. No side effects to report, so we are very happy about that! She was accompanied by her sister K and my two cousins. She met a man with his wife in the treatment room who has the same kind of tumor, and said it was very good to share experiences and provide support and encouragement to each other. She remarked that she is finding out it is quite a community among cancer patients. A woman even came up to her at a Cracker Barrel on the way home and asked if she was a cancer patient, and mom said yes. Then the woman told her she was beautiful and would be praying for her, and gave her a hug. In 3 weeks, her parents will take her for the next treatment.
